Choose a Magical Christening Gift

disclosure

Christenings are a wonderful time for loved ones to come together, and, for many, can be a first chance to celebrate the arrival of a brand new family member. They can be a great source of new family heirlooms.

Some of my kids favorite ‘toys’ are the ones that I played with when I was a child.   There is something about seeing and touching a toy or anything for that matter, that’s been in the family for years that puts a big smile on a face.

Ernest Jones Christening Gifts

Christening gifts are commonly of a religious theme, but a gift that very young children can understand, such as one that relates to one of your  favorite classic story’s when they’re older, may be just as thoughtful.  To give a gift that will be remembered for years to come and add to the fairytale of a just-beginning childhood, we have some magical suggestions from Ernest Jones’ Christening collection.

As an established British jeweller, ErnestJones.co.uk offers gifts that are beautifully crafted and made from the finest materials, and giving a gift from Ernest Jones also means giving back: the company also partners with and supports Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The Hansel and Gretel money bank is a gift that is likely to become a part of the new baby’s room as he or she grows up. The gift of a bank is a wonderful way to become a part of the child’s growing-up years, as a place to store allowance, count and save money, and learn its value early on.  Made of unbreakable pewter, the silver gingerbread house’s candy swirls and adorable children is sure to become part of childhood for the new baby, if not a precious keepsake for mom.  I would love to have this bank for myself! I think it’s gorgeous and it brings back some great childhood memories.

Another great gift that is sure to become woven into fond childhood memories is the Fairytale Frog Prince tooth box.  Whether this friendly frog is to become guardian to a child’s first baby tooth, a place to be visited by the Tooth Fairy, or just an endearing nightstand addition, this smiling pewter frog and his bejeweled crown will definitely be cherished for years to come.

The Thumbelina mug is a perfect little gift for a perfect little girl. This flower-shaped mug is crafted from pewter, and, peeking between the petals, we catch a glimpse of the future faerie princess herself. This adorable and whimsical take on the traditional pewter Christening cup is a very thoughtful way to renew something time-honored in the first few months of a bright new life.

The Royal Selangor pewter Cinderella clock is a gift that may one day even bring fairytale magic to math. A fantastic addition to any nursery, this is a gift that is sure to remain a part of the new family’s life for years to come.

Even if you don’t live in the UK, you will find fabulous gifts ideas on the Ernest Jones website!

4th of July Kids Clothes and Accessories at The Children’s Place

It’s a rainy day here in Atlanta and tomorrow is July 4th.   I will hardly let the rain stop us from being patriotic and proud!

One way that we show off our USA pride in the is to wear festive clothes and accessories.  As my daughter got old enough to dress herself, I quickly learned that a 4th of July outfit made up of a red shirt, blue shorts, and white sandals just won’t do.

What was I thinking!?

One children’s clothing store that I know will have festive, 4th of July, clothes and accessories is The Children’s Place.

Here are a few festive, 4th of July pieces, that Madelyn loves and will get when we go shopping this afternoon, if she has her way, and if this rain slows down.  🙂

Wyler’s Light: Helping my kids make better choices in what they are drinking.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Jel Sert. All opinions are 100% mine.

I drink lots and lots of water.  At least a gallon a day.  In the summertime its probably more like a gallon and a half to two gallons with all the time we spend outside. But I get so sick and tired of drinking just water!  Yeah, I have my two cups of coffee in the morning and then usually one soda in the afternoon.  I am really trying to cut down on my caffeine intake though.  So much water though just gets boring after a while.

Wyler’s Light, , a low–calorie (only 5 calories), sugar–free drink mix that helps me get through the day and not turn to that soda in the afternoon hours when I am looking for something to drink besides my tasteless water. Plus Wyler’s Light is helping my kids make better choices in what they are drinking.  Instead of drinking all that sugary soda and juices they turn to water and they put Wyler’s Light in their water to give it a great taste!  They like the Lemonade flavor.  My two favorite flavors are Raspberry Lemonade and Strawberry Lemonade. I can’t just choose one!

I love to mix my Raspberry Lemonade up, put it in the blender, add ice and blend and make it like a slushy.  It’s a great drink for when you’re sitting out by the pool on a hot humid day.

And Wyler’s light has a flavor for everyone! There are 17 flavor’s to choose from:

•Lemonade
•Pink Lemonade
•Raspberry Lemonade
•Strawberry Lemonade
•Strawberry
•Cool Raspberry
•Cherry
•Cherry Limeade
•Grape
•Fruit Punch
•Kiwi Strawberry
•Sunsplash Orange
•Iced Tea with Lemon
•Iced Tea with Peach
•Iced Tea with Raspberry
•Half Iced Tea and Half Lemonade

Plus a new flavor..Cherry Berry!

This summer check out Wyler’s Light and find your favorite flavor.

Skateboarding, a safe sport, with the right gear!

disclosure

My son went through a phase when all he wanted to do was skateboard.  He would bring his skateboard in the car and skateboard everywhere.. at the park, in our driveway, and down my mom’s street.   I thought it was super cute.. I mean cool.  😉

I learned that it can be difficult to find a store, either online or offline, that specializes in skateboarding gear.  SkateHut is one online store that offers a great selection of skateboards and skateboarding gear as well as skateboarding tips and safety advice.  While SkateHut.co.uk is based in UK and is a great store to buy gear from if you live in the UK, it is also a great resource for U.S. shoppers to research skateboarding products and get ideas.

Skateboarding is a past time that many kids start when they are young and continuing doing for many years.  Your child is your pride and joy, of course, so stores like SkateHut offer protection essentials for them so you can worry less (well, probably not) and let them do what they love.. skateboard all over the place!

Skateboarding gear and safety

Is Skateboarding a Sport?

Skateboarding is definitely a sport. You’ve heard of the X Games right?  Skateboarding can be very good exercise for your child. What’s great about skateboarding is that it is a bonding sport, as well as competitive.  Kids can get together and skateboard as buddies as the park but when it comes to competition time, you bet it turns into a sport!  You can go to a skateboarding tournament just like you would go to a ball game, and with your support, they’ll become better athletes and come to know good sportsmanship.

Skateboarding Safety

Safety  should be your #1 concern, because no parent wants to see their son or daughter scrape a knee, much less break a bone. Pads of all sorts can be used for impact protection should your child fall or wipe out, and helmets are an essential must to all outdoor sports including skateboarding.

There are many options and styles of protective gear, and most come in different looks so your child can still feel they are expressing themselves while meeting the necessary safety requirements.

Stores like SkateHut customize skateboards to their standards, which can add to safety as well.   I quickly learned that if a board fits its rider, it is much safer.

Cool Skateboard Gear

Did you know that you can put pink wheels on your daughter’s skateboard?  Or your son if he’s into pink.. my son has pink lacrosse balls.  Whatever floats his boat, right?

Take a look at SkateHut.co.uk and get ideas for your child’s skateboarding gear and potential future in the X-games! 🙂

You never know!
