Giveaway + Review: New Philips AVENT Double Electric Comfort Breast Pump

Let’s get personal, shall we? I breastfed both of my kids. After the birth of my son, I had lots of help from nurses at the hospital. Once we were home though, he wasn’t very fond of latching on correctly. After a few days the pain set in. I had no idea that breastfeeding could be painful. I was told to use hot compresses, ice packs, tickle his chin or open his mouth while he was trying to latch on, and then finally, the pediatrician told me that I should pump and give it to him from a bottle. This was 13 years ago. I was a bit clueless when it came to breast pumps. I bought one from the store, not really paying attention to the features, then I bought another because it wasn’t comfortable at all. I think I was finally happy with the third one I bought. Breast pumps are a very personal item and the one you choose has to be good.

I am so happy that new moms these days have breast pumps like this one at their disposal!

Philips AVENT Comfort Breast Pump.

The newly launched Philips AVENT Comfort Breast Pump was designed with moms’ comfort in mind. Once of the biggest breast pumping complaints I’ve seen time and time again is that you have to sit slumped over so.. you know.. gravity works better. With this breast pump you can sit in your favorite chair with no need to lean forward while pumping.

The Philips AVENT Comfort Breast Pump has many great benefits that new moms will appreciate including a gentle and soft stimulation mode and comfortable massage cushions that easily help to get the milk to flow. The massage cushions have a warm feel to them too which helps with breast pumping.

Enter to win a fabulous gift basket full of Philips AVENT goodies below.

There are three pumping settings and the funnels are shorter which ends leaning forward while pumping. The Philips AVENT Comfort Breast Pump focuses fully on providing comfort and making it easy for the mother breastfeed. Research has found that 23% of women found that breastfeeding is painful and stop within three months. Using the Comfort Breast Pump allows mothers to pump milk longer. The Comfort Breast Pump will dispense directly into Natural Bottle to allow for immediate bottle feeding. The Natural Bottle that comes with the pump features a wide, breast-shaped nipple created to help babies latch on naturally.

The BPA free Philips AVENT Comfort Breast Pump has a patented soft 5-petal massage cushion and it has a memory feature that remembers the mother’s personal rhythm. It has a unique storage system and makes like easier with usage of Philips many baby bottles and breast milk storage containers to use in both the fridge and freezer.

It is important to offer your baby a comfortable bottle to drink from when he’s not breastfeeding. The Philips AVENT Natural Bottle has a wide, breast-shaped nipple designed to help your baby latch on naturally. The special comfort ‘petals’ inside the nipple increase softness and flexibility without collapsing. This bottle has an advanced anti-colic system with innovative twin valve allows air into the bottle – not baby’s tummy and it works with the Philips AVENT Comfort Breast Pump, making it easy for babies to combine breast and bottle feeding.

  • Pumping your milk regularly will help you to maintain the levels of milk that most physician’s recommended.
  • Pumping your milk will boost supply and relieve pain due to enlarged breast pressure.
  • Pumping allows your baby to drink breast milk when you’re not around to feed (date night perhaps?) and will help maintain your milk supply.
  • Pumping your breast milk is also perfect if you plan to go back to work but want your baby to continue having the benefits of your breast milk.
  • The Philips AVENT Natural bottle and nipple for natural latch on makes it easy for babies to combine breast and bottle feeding.
  • The twin electronic breast pump alleviates stress of pumping breast milk and it is a relaxing process each time you have to pump milk.

Mombo™ – The Nursing Pillow With More To Love!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Comfort and Harmony. All opinions are 100% mine.

When I was going to have our first baby I was very overwhelmed with all the options out there.  But one thing that I wish that I would have had that I didn’t have was a mombo nursing pillow.  I didn’t nurse for very long but what I have learned is that a nursing pillow is not just for nursing!  You can use the mombo nursing pillow for tummy time too!

The mombo™ products can be found at Toys R Us and Babies R Us. Look at this one that I found on the Toys R Us website!.  Isn’t it cute?

This one is the Comfort & Harmony Mombo Deluxe Nursing Pillow & Infant Positioner – Loin King.

Mombo has a unique shape and a two-sided design called Firm2Soft™. Each side offers a different experience. The firm side gives essential support for you and your nursing baby. The soft side is extra cozy for an inviting place for lounging or tummy time. Did you know that mombo is the only nursing pillow with a vibration feature? Mombo will give baby the ultimate soothing experience while lounging. Mombo has an assortment of pillow styles and slipcover fashions. Select the style you like, from Standard, Deluxe or Nude™. And then choose multiple slipcover fashions, you can have a different one for every day of the week!

I have a couple of baby showers in the next few months.  I know what I am going to be getting for the mommies to be!

Mother’s Milk: Nursing Nutrition

Nursing Nutrition

As a newly nursing mom, what you eat will still affect your baby’s nutrition. Having a breastfed baby has many health benefits, and also encourages bonding between mother and child. In order to make sure that you are doing the most to keep your baby healthy, it’s important to keep track of your nutrition as well. Here are some great tips for keeping your diet healthy while breastfeeding.

  • Eat a well-balanced diet for YOUR body. Don’t rely too much on one food group or another. By keeping your diet healthy, you are keeping your baby’s diet healthy as well.
  • Don’t force yourself to lose weight while you are breastfeeding. Too many mothers try to do one-day cleanses that release toxins that have built up over years while they are breastfeeding. This causes the toxins to appear in breast milk. Going on too few calories can hurt both quality and supply of milk. If you are bent on losing weight, try to lose 1.5 pounds a week at most, and do it in a healthy and reasonable manner.
  • Avoid drinking caffeine. Caffeine has negative effects on babies, including hyperactivity and colic. Don’t drink caffeine while nursing.
  • Eat foods that taste good to you. Many doctors theorize that the flavors that you ingest will also be ingested by the baby. By eating your favorite foods, you will get your newborn used to the flavors they will experience once they begin to eat solid foods.
  • Continue to supplement your diet with vitamins, but consult a doctor first. Although your baby is no longer inside you, he still needs nutrition from you. Take a multivitamin supplement suggested by your doctor in order to keep your baby well-fed. Be careful, it is possible to ingest toxic levels of certain vitamins. Ask your doctor what you should take as a supplement.

Above all, the most important thing to remember when you are choosing what to eat when you are nursing is to remember that as long as the food is healthy and tastes great, you made the right choice.

Do you (or did you) worry about what you eat/ate while nursing? Do you have any nursing tips you’d like to share with us?  Leave them in the comments below.
