Expediting product reviews (for business owners and PR representatives)

Why do I charge a fee to expedite the product review process?

First of all, note that this is not a fee to write the product review.  I only charge the fee if I review the product and am able to give my honest opinion about the product.  If I find fault in a product, I will not spend my time writing a review about it and will issue a full refund.  The $100 fee is a “rush fee” and IN NO WAY influences what I write about the product.

• I am a work from home mom of two kids, ages 9 and 3.
• My 3 year old is home with me 24/7
• My husband works.. away from home (we have a security system!.. that’s the paranoia in me)
• I cook, clean, and do laundry (with my new Frigidaire appliances!) while taking care of my kids and working
• My son and daughter don’t cook, clean, or do laundry (my son is learning to do laundry.. he’s pretty great!)
• I enjoy spending time with my family
• I usually test a product for at least a couple of days before starting the notes and review process
• A review typically takes 3 – 4 hours to prepare and write
• I work at least 6 hours a day which is a feat in itself considering everything else I do, like keep house and take care of two kids.  We tried the nanny thing and because I work from home, that just didn’t work.. mostly because I am too attached to my kids, not the other way around.
• I’ve been running my business for 9 years and have learned that my time is valuable, I can’t please everyone, and I should get paid to be in a hurry.
• I have 70+ products waiting to be reviewed at any given time
• I take time out of my day to express my excitement over products that I am passionate about.  When I am really excited about a product I write about it on The Mommy Insider, Gadget Goddess, TheFind.com, AOL’s MomLogic.com and social networks including Twitter and Facebook which takes a lot of time.
• If I choose not to review the product I will issue a full refund

One more thing..

• I LOVE what I do which I why I’ve been doing it for 9 years
