Atlanta Moms: Alpharetta High School presents the rollicking musical, “Oklahoma!”

Alpharetta High School presents the rollicking musical, “Oklahoma!” by Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II, which celebrates America’s pioneering spirit with boot stomping energy!
The high-spirited rivalry between local cowboys and farmers sets a colorful background for Laurey, a winsome farm girl, and two men competing for her love: Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Jud Fry, hired farmhand. Memorable songs, a “dream ballet,” and comedic subplots secure a great entertainment event for the entire family!

Performances are March 17-18 at 7:00 p.m. and March 19-20 at 2:00 p.m. in the Alpharetta High School auditorium.

ONE NIGHT ONLY THE SHANGRI-LA CHINESE ACROBATS® at Buckhead Theatre!

Buckhead Theatre - Shangri-La AcrobatsIncredible,” “breathtaking,” “stunning,” and “quite unbelievable,” are just a few quotes critics have used to describe this cultural masterpiece. THESHANGRI-LA CHINESE ACROBATS® 31st North American Theatre Tour will stop in Atlanta for one night only to perform a 7:30 pm show at The Buckhead Theatre Wednesday, November 17th.  The entertainment provided by these gifted performers appeals to all ages and transcends beyond language barriers by inspiring audience members through incredible acts of dexterity and skill. Prepare to sit back, relax and be transported by these magnificent acrobats to the mystical land of “Shangri-La,” where anything is possible and illusion becomes reality.

Produced by IAI Presentations, Inc., THE SHANGRI-LA CHINESE ACROBATS® offers more than a glimpse into the fascinating traditions of the Orient. It consists of sensational Chinese acrobatics, balancing feats, martial arts displays, and much more. A truly Oriental spectacular and a show for all ages, the grace and precision of the acrobats are the triumph of years of dedicated training and discipline. Chinese acrobatics are, in fact, more than just a series of stunts. Most of the acts clearly demonstrate the achievement of perfection through finding harmony between mind and body – an ancient concept in the Orient.

Shangri-La at Buckhead Theatre

The sensational group has performed throughout South America, Southeast Asia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Monte Carlo, Canada and the United States. For more than 30 years THE SHANGRI-LA CHINESE ACROBATS® have been directed by the Hai Family from China and have achieved great success and standing ovations across North America and around the world. Their annual sold-out theatre tours astound audiences night after night with their incredible talents. The overwhelming response of the audience is a testament to the popularity of their unique brand of entertainment. The performers enjoy traveling the world and sharing their ancient art with audiences both young and old.

THE SHANGRI-LA CHINESE ACROBATS® brings an exciting new genre of production to The Buckhead Theatre. The infusion of Asian culture and theatrical stunts are unlike any performance the venue has produced to date, yet plays into the theatre’s plan of being a diverse and multicultural entertainment center.

This multi-faceted and multicultural experience is an ideal educational opportunity. Subject to school’s interest, a matinee performance may be added to the show schedule to allow local students a unique chance to be emerged in Chinese culture and traditions. Schools interested in ticket information can contact Karla Curtis at 404-THE-BUCK or Elliot Penso at 404-372-4755.

I’m attending Variety’s Power of Women event in Beverly Hills!

I am so excited!

Myself and 10 other great women (list coming soon) were selected by Honda to attend Variety’sPower of Women event September 30th.
And to top it off, I’m ‘competing’ (I don’t really like that word) with the 10 other winners to cover the event from the RED CARPET!   The 10 other women who are in the running to be on the red carpet are fantastic so good luck to them and I’ll see you there!
To vote for my essay, the 7th one, (or any of the 10 wonderful essays), visit Honda Odyssey’s Power of Women Facebook page here and click on the ‘VOTE’ link to the right of the essay you want to vote for.  If my essay gets the most votes, I win and cover the event from the red carpet at the Power of Women event – which quite honestly.. I’m not sure that I want to do so vote for my essay if you LOVE it but otherwise, feel free to vote for another essay.

Meanwhile, I’m going to the not-so-hot (as Atlanta) west coast to attend Honda’s Ride N Drive Event later this week and can’t wait to tell you all about it, afterwards.
