Dip Stix Extreme Bubbles

I haven’t met a child yet who doesn’t love to blow bubbles.  I buy my kids bubbles for almost every holiday as I’m sure a lot of parents do.  Bubbles are easy and entertaining.. two things I love!

Backyard Safari Outfitters

Sebastian loves to be outside.   He’ll easily spend over an hour poking around the yard with a stick.  I don’t know what he’s looking for when he pokes around.. I’m just glad he’s occupying himself and is not in front of the TV.   I love watching him tiddle around in the yard whether he’s poking around with a stick or looking for mysterious bugs in the flower garden.  Madelyn, on the other hand.. she’s not a big ‘tiddler’.. she likes to run around and jump on the trampoline but she’s not into searching for cool bugs and ‘treasures’ (cool rocks) like Sebastian is.

Kids love playing the water and what’s better than swimming and splashing in the summer?  How about sliding down a curving slide to shoot out into the cool waters of a splash pool?  Sounds fun, doesn’t it?  It is!  I can tell you first hand and that’s because despite the fact that I am in my 30′s, and not in the recommended ages range of 5-10 years old, I’ve been down the slide more than once.  There is a weight limit of around 300lbs so I felt OK about enjoying the Slam n’ Curve Slide with my kids.  We had a blast!

It’s imperative that moms relax and it’s nearly impossible for a mom to have alone time.   For me, sitting outside, even with the kids, is the next best thing to having alone time.  I am usually trying to relax when I’m sitting outside, so it’s important that the kids have something to do so they will leave me alone for a few minutes (right!?).
After much trial and error, I concluded that sand is just about the coolest outdoor toy ever.  So, now I have a sandbox on both porches.  On the front porch I have a shallow, wide plastic storage bin (the kind you put under a bed to store stuff in) filled with sand while the back porch, the one I sit on more often, has the more aesthetically pleasing Little Tikes Butterfly Beach Sandbox and Wading Pool.

The butterfly’s wings unfold with one wing becoming the pool and the other wing is the sandbox.   It sounds like magic, but it’s not.  The sunshade pops into the butterfly’s back and provides great protection from the sun.  I absolutely LOVE having the sunshade.  When Madelyn is playing in the front porch sandbox (the make-shift storage bin sandbox) I have to move it as the sun shines down on the porch which is a pain because sand isn’t light!  When the kids are done playing in the Butterfly Beach Sandbox and Wading Pool, the emptied pool side folds over the sand side doubling as a secure lid. "This is awesome!" – Madelyn, 2 years old

Those were Madelyn's first words when she saw the Little Tikes Picnic n' Playhouse all put together.  While Tim was building the playhouse she couldn't stay off of it and had her share of yelling at, but now that it's built she doesn't want to come out of it.  I don't blame her.  She eats her breakfast and lunch in her playhouse when it's nice outside while I enjoy a nice peaceful meal on the back porch.  So besides being a great toy for Madelyn, the Picnic n' Playhouse from Little Tikes gives me a few minutes to myself each day that I literally didn't have before.  Who would have thought a toddler playhouse could do that for a mom?

The Little Tikes Picnic n' Playhouse is relatively easy to put together.  The only tools we needed were a mallet, a power screw driver and the playhouse was built within about 2 hours including breaks.

What Madelyn loves about the Little Tikes Picnic n' Playhouse:

• She can eat inside or outside the house with the fold-down table and pop in/out chairs
• The working light
• She likes to play princess or captain on the platform at the top of the slide and climbing wall
• She gets to call all of her friends from inside her playhouse with her very own cordless phone

• It's spacious enough for both Madelyn (2) and Sebastian (9) to fit inside and enjoy
• It's easy to move from place to place in the yard.  I like to keep her out of the sun.
• I can enjoy a snack outside the house while she's inside but were both sitting on a slide out chair.

I wish..

• The slide was a little longer
• That there could be a floor
• A doorbell would be cute!
• I had one when I was a kid.

Uncle Milton’s ladybug and roly poly domed habitats have colorful playground equipment, a lid that snaps shut and air holes.  One night Sebastian left a little ‘jumping bug’ in the dome overnight and to my surprise it was still alive in the morning.  It must have spend the night sliding and playing under the playground equipment to help pass the time. 

Each playground dome has playground equipment suitable for a different type of bug.  Because we don’t have many ladybugs near our home, Sebastian put other bugs in the dome and they (the bugs) enjoyed it just as well.  I favor the roly poly dome.  Roly poly’s are so cute and fun to watch.  You don’t have to put roly poly’s in the dome if you don’t have any around your home.  Pretty much any bug will do although it is probably best not to put two bugs that don’t get along, prey and predator, in the same dome.

At less than $10 each these playgrounds make great gifts.
