Caillou has been a permanent fixture in our home for as long as I can remember.. well since having kids at least. First, my son who is now 11 years old, loved Caillou.  We read Caillou books and watched Caillou on PBS, almost daily.  Now, my 4 year old daughter is following in his footsteps with her very own collection of Caillou items which I must admit, trump my son’s collection from years ago.

My daughter’s Caillou collection includes books, videos, and now a new Caillou Doll and Caillou Bath Time Vehicle.  She’s a huge fan of bath time (aka ‘play in the water time’) and has way too many bath toys.  But she picks favorites.. and right now the Caillou Bath Time Vehicle is her fave.

Madelyn’s Caillou Doll is my daughter’s new partner in crime.  He plays ‘spy’ with her and her brother, empties the cookie bin, and eats dinner with her most nights.  Of course Caillou is the one that makes the messes at the dinner table, not my 4 year old.  The Caillou Doll retails for a steep $29.99 but believe me.. Caillou’s not going anywhere and you’re child will love snuggling with and playing with his/her Caillou Doll for years.

I am really glad I was given the opportunity to review the bath blizzard but I can’t say that I would spend $19.99 on this product.  The concept of the bath blizzard is great but a I have a few issues with it.  I recommend that you take a look at the (4 page) instruction sheet, which you will find on the Kid Kleen website here before buying a bath blizzard.

It’s a well known fact that kids love bubbles.  Because they do, your kids will love the bath blizzard. Parents though might find it a bit of a hassle and should be prepared to spend 10+ minutes setting it up though.  I know that doesn’t sound like a long time but while I was setting ours up, I was thinking that it would have been much easier for me to pour some bubble bath into the water and swish it around to make lots of bubbles the old fashioned way.  However, the kids have much more fun with the bath blizzard than they do when I just pour bubble bath into the tub.  The bath blizzard comes with a teeny tiny bottle of bubble solution which we used very quickly but I found that our bubble bath solution works just fine.  We use Rainbow Organic Herbal bubble bath for kids.  The amount of bubbles that comes out of the bath blizzard seems to be a hit or miss. Sometimes the bubbles pour out and sometimes they trickle.  Sometimes there are enough bubbles for Sebastian to be a full on Santa Claus, beard, mustache, and a full head of white hair and sometimes there’s barely enough to make a mustache.

When I opened the box I recently got from Bath Cake Boutique, I couldn’t believe how yummy everything in the box looked and smelled. I was actually a little confused.  I was on my way out the door when I opened the box so I didn’t look at the company name on the box, Bath Cake Boutique (which kind of gives a hint to what’s inside).  My first thought was ‘"how on earth did these incredible chocolate cakes make it through the mail"?   The cakes look real and smell amazing.  I realized they weren’t real cakes when I picked one up and noticed it was a bit heavier than cakes.  Packed in a bakery type box, the kids also thought the cakes were real.  Luckily though, they didn’t take a bite.

If you read my last post, you will see the mention of our Just Buzzin’ By mat, also known as a Splat Mat.  This mat has saved me many a carpet cleanings and from getting totally stressed out at meal time.
I’m sure you know how it is with a toddler.  You feel confident that she will be fine with a regular cup in the living because she’s done it once or twice and it worked out fine.  Uh.. no!  Toddlers have to switch things up every once in while you know.  And by switch it up, I mean launching an ice cream cone across the room, or lining up spaghetti on the floor like it is a choo choo train.  Yeah!, another cleaning job for Mommy.

My Just Buzzin’ By Splat Mat has helped me in two ways.  First of all, I don’t’ have to clean up yucky food messes under Madelyn’s chair anymore.  Second, the fact that I don’t have to clean up messes whether the splat mat was under a chair or the kids were sitting on it to eat or do crafts, helps keep my stress levels down during dinner or craft time.  When the kids are finished eating or crafting, I shake the mat off outside then wipe it down with a wet cloth.  The splat mat folds up nicely making it easy to store in a cabinet or even a drawer.  The design we have is adorable, so I leave our splat mat open in the living room most of the time, and Madelyn knows that she has to sit on it when/if she eats or drinks in the living room.

We also use our splat mat outside so we have a comfortable place to sit without getting grass stains or ants crawling up our shorts.   I have a feeling that our splat mat is going to be a staple at
Sebastian’s baseball games next season.  I hate sitting on the
bleachers because Madelyn just wants to climb all over them and
carrying chairs to sit in is a big hassle. However, the splat mat will
fit very nicely in my bag and it is light, unlike chairs.
