Cakes and pies used to get all the attention, but that’s rapidly changing with a trend towards choosing cupcakes instead. Cupcakes make it easy to give each person a serving of dessert and avoid the mess involved with cutting and serving a cake or pie. Most of all, they’re simply tasty and fun.

Cupcake Party Time

When it’s party time, cupcakes make a good choice for dessert. They are easier to transport than traditional cakes and can also prove easier to ice and decorate. This is an especially important point when letting kids in on the fun of preparing them. Cupcakes are also a hit with sometimes finicky children. For example, when preparing cupcakes for a school party, you can make a variety flavors. Having a selection of choices means there’s a cupcake to please just about everyone.

Family Time

Cupcakes aren’t just for fun times at school. They also provide fun for the whole family. A tasty cupcake can brighten up the day when served as an after-school snack or after-dinner dessert. You can also add to the joy of a birthday or holiday party at home with themed cupcakes. Families can even visit a cupcake bakery for a fun time out together, as can busy couples interested in a unique date-night activity.

Healthy Ingredients

Best of all is the fact that cupcakes don’t have to be unhealthy.  Applesauce or yogurt makes a good substitute for oil and butter, and reduced-fat icing makes for a healthier dessert. You may also add fresh fruit as a topping to reduce the amount of icing used and to take the place of candy and other less healthy toppings. Adding nuts, shredded vegetables and fruits to the batter may also increase its health value without hurting taste.

  1. I began to answer this post a few HOURS ago. It is sometimes peculiar how you address a simple and fun cupcake question which turns into a short bio and history of the how I got where I am this moment from being in a VERY different place less than 2 years ago.
I usually write comedy, and there is always a chuckle lodged within even my most serious pieces. Bottom line is …. I L-O-V-E Cupcakes. My first sentence on the previous answer began , “Is there in fact a BAD cupcake flavor? Unless done on purpose? ” and it reminded me of the roller coaster that I have been stuck on for the past . I am not complaining and if you would like to read the longer version, please leave a comment for me and I would love to share it.
There are also many more of my shorts, the spur of the moment twists of a perfectly harmless “Cupcake Question” that turns into the best introduction to all of my friends, family and fans to help them and me understand some of the things I am trying to get handle on, which is made exponentially more difficult since I have little left to hang on to =) This is not a spoiler, there is, SO FAR, no tragic ending to report.so if you are intrigued, curious or simply want to see what is up with this Cupcake ask and I shall send you the way to get to my life (meaning only the past couple of years) infused with so very funny perceptions as well as a couple , and I will take any I can get, small wins in my column… Here I am Welcome to Midlife =)
    Ha!!
Neapolitan, a Neapolitan cupcake that was brought to me from a bakery in Hapeville that I do not know the name of. However on all reconnaissance to retrieve another of these scrumptious cakes have failed miserably =)
So I need that gift card ….. but I’ll take the sugar high over it any day=)
Have an Amazing New Year this comic, writer, unemployed fictional title ‘s that sounds cool or important maker !

  2. I make cakes all the time, but have this perception that making cupcakes is alot more work?! I need to try it, though … my kids would love it! 🙂

  3. My mom and I used to make cup cake cones when I was little. I loved making them and thought it was great that you could use an ice cream cone as a cup cake holder!

  4. I entered the Liven Up Your Holiday Menu With Ragu and Win a $200 AmEx Gift Card giveaway. This is the second time because my entries were removed from this giveaway and that one. Hopefully this is the last time I have to follow instructions and put work into this.

  5. My favorite cupcake is probably classic chocolate with white icing.

Forgive me if this is the second time I am doing this. All my work from last night isn’t in the comments.

  6. Love peanut butter and i am looking for a good recipe for real peanut butter cupcakes. Does anyone have one they can share or know where I can find a good one?
    Thank you!

  7. I love just the plain old Butter recipe with chocolate icing. My grandmother used to make us homemade from scratch cupcakes and they were to die for. So good! katbirdfl (at) gmail (dot) com
