Lands’ End Swimsuits – Choose your anxiety zone!

I am a nervous wreck when I put on a bathing suite.   Even when I was a size 4 I thought I had major flaws.  Now that I am a size 8 and have a little extra weight (from my last birth.. over 3 years ago.. yes, that’s my excuse) I hunt for just the right swimsuit.

Here is what I look for in a swimsuit:

  • It has to be a one piece swimsuit
  • I prefer black or dark brown
  • My swimsuit must have straps – the boobies just don’t tolerate strapless.
  • A skirt to cover the upper thigh area

I got an email newsletter from Lands’ End this morning telling me about their new swimsuit selection and I thought, sheez it’s still Winter, why do I want to look for a swimsuit now?  Well, I thought looking at swimsuits now might inspire me to lose the 10 lbs I put on since October (medication related, but still).. ugh!

What’s really cool about the Lands’ End swimsuit selection is that you can choose your ANXIETY ZONE!  There are currently about 48 swimsuits offered in the Lands’ End Swimsuit Anxiety Zone section.

In the swimsuit area of the Lands’ End there is a list of anxiety zones buyers can choose from.  Anxiety Zones include:

  • Minimize Tummy-Waist.. yes please
  • Minimize Hips-Thighs
  • Enhance Bust.. no thanks
  • Lengthen Legs
  • Enhance Waist..interesting
  • Minimize Bust.. yes please

I’m giving one lucky reader a $25 Lands’ End e-gift card!
Do you have swimsuit anxiety?  Swimsuits aren’t always cheap but the extra expense is worth it.
Leave a comment below telling me what your swimsuit anxiety is, your favorite kind of swimsuit, and/or your favorite summer beach destination and I will enter every commentor to win a $25 e-gift card to use at LandsEnd.com.. on me!  Entries accepted through Feb. 10th, 2010.

I was not compensated financially or with product for this blog post.

  1. Any number of the beaches in Hawaii would be my choice — warm in the winter, warm in the summer, with clean sand and no need for a passport to get there

  2. I’m the grandmother of 2, so my swimsuit anxiety is literally being seen in a swimsuit! Don’t get me wrong…there was a time that I could wear a bikini, but that’s a sweet distant memory! LOL

  3. My anxiety would probably be minimizing the waist.
favorite type is halter top, and my favorite beach destination is Cancun!

  4. I am top-heavy, so it’s always rough trying to find a swimsuit. If they fit on the top, they are too loose on the bottom!

Oh well, I’m unemployed so I’m not going on vacation anyway, so I don’t need a suit right now!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  5. My worst swimsuit anxiety is that I feel a little heavy in the hips and upper thigh area and my husband teases me about my saddle bags when I am in my swimsuit. I would love to invest in a quality suit that will help work to detract from this area as well as minimize it! Miracles can happen, right!

My favorite kind of swimsuits are the tankini’s. They are really cute and hide your stomach nicely!

My favorite summer beach destination is Welfleet, MA which is on Cape Cod, I love taking our 3 young children there with my husband, the perfect family vacation spot!

Thanks so much for your generosity and the chance to enter.

  6. i havent worn a swimsuit in years i usually wear shorts and a tshirt…my booty is my anxiety spot and my fav beach is hampton beach nh

  7. I’d want a bathing suit that Minimize Hips-Thighs My favorite beach location is Sylvan Beach, NY. They shot the movie “The Sterile Cuckoo” there .. It stared Liza Minnelli

  8. My stomach area is my anxiety zone. I have gained a bunch of weight over the years and most of it is in my abdomen. So, I have to make sure that area is covered.

  9. I really love to shop but shopping for bathing suits is the hardest for me. I panic EVERY time-! I always feel like my “little bits” are hangin out -lol!

  10. I live in Southern California, so we have tons of great beaches. Huntington Beach is one of my favorites. And I need a suit to minimize — everything!

  11. My biggest anxiety is that I’m bugger on the bottom than the top, so one piece suits tend to not fit well. And I can’t fill out the top part! Hee Hee.

  12. Yes, I do have swimsuit anxiety! I guess my favorite kind of swimsuit is the kind that has a “subtle” skirt at the bottom to cover a bit of my upper thunder-thighs. macd82 at gmail dot com

  13. WIth my last child I gained fifty pounds and I have the cellulite to prove it. For the first time in my life I have swimsuit anxiety because cellulite is gross. I want to find a swimsuit that covers my rear end completely.

  14. Good god, woman! You’re blogging about swimsuits already? As if I needed to read about swimsuit season in February. Well, thanks alot for that… My biggest swimsuit anxiety is simply wearing one! Its not something I do unless its at a friends fully fenced backyard pool. sigh…

  15. Swimsuit Anxiety? What? Who Me? Or should I say, “Who Doesn’t???”

My tummy/belly area, or more specifically, my waist is a big problem because aside from socalled “middle-age spread” – I also have small hips and a flat butt which makes my waist look big no matter what!

We live a few block away from a “Great Lake” – but the water is always too cold for me… Give me the British Virgin Islands or Aruba!

  16. My swimsuit anxiety is anyone seeing my thighs! My favorite kind of swimsuit is a two piece with a skirted bottom. My favorite summer beach destination is Wildwood NJ!

  17. Of course I have swimsuit anxiety, mostly about my tummy and love handles. I like a suit with a halter top to hold everything in place. A tankini usually gets the job done. 🙂

  18. My swimsuit anxiety is that I always manage to look like the Pillsbury Doughboy’s sister in one. And I am not fat to start with.

  19. I love two pieces, but it’s hard to find one that isn’t tight on my hips. If it’s tight, I feel like I get bulge even if I don’t really have one. I don’t like going to many beaches, but I love a good indoor pool.

  20. Favorite summer beach destination is difficult to choose, but, locally, I enjoy the beaches of Orange County, CA. If internationally, the few beaches in the South Pacific that I visited were wonderful

  21. I’ve always liked wearing one-piece suits, but ones that are well-cut. My anxiety is not looking as good as I did when I was younger!

  22. My swimsuit anxiety is my legs–I don’t think they are attractive at all and I don’t like having them ‘in public’. My favorite suit is a one-piece and I don’t really have a favorite beach, since I use a backyard pool.

  23. I have a lot of anxiety over my stretched out belly and my small bustline. I have to find a suit that can stay in place up top while covering my unattractive mid-section.

  24. YES! I absolutely do have swimsuit anxiety! The reason is that I am overweight and to be honest, I haven’t wore a swimsuit in YEARS due to being worried about how I’ll look in one. Thank you for the giveaway.

  25. My swimsuit anxiety is leaving my upper thighs bare. So, I generally have some swim shorts/skirt/coverup on my bottom half 🙂

  26. I definitely need a bathing suit that minimizes hips/thighs. I hate showing my legs too, but I guess there’s no such thing as a full-body swimsuit!! 🙂

  27. My swimsuit anxiety is showing off too much of the rear end (wedgies) or just generally not being flattering to that area.

  28. My swimsuit anxiety is how noticeable my rear and thighs are when I get into one. I would love a suit that is slimming for those areas. My favorite beach is Carlsbad state beach!

  29. Every summer I stress about my tummy area! I like to have a solid color one piece suit with some sort of skirt to try and cover it up/suck it in. We love to hit Pawley’s Island in the summer.

  30. I hate swimsuit shopping. It seems all swimsuits are made for size 6 women. Full figure suits seem to exaggerate the areas you want to hide. I have found suits with rouching on the side fit me best.

  31. I got last year’s bathing suit from Land’s End and I was very happy with it. Very flattering and well made. My anxiety issue with bathing suits is my stomach, so I look for a suit that will hold my tummy in well.

  32. I have some of the worst legs you’ve ever seen. I hate showing them in public. A one piece is the only suit I wear. we go to Seaside, OR every year & love it.

  33. I have heavier hips, so wearing a bathing suit makes me self-conscious. I need something that will make me feel like Bettie Page, another hip-tastic woman.

  34. My anxiety is my tummy. I’d love to be able to relax and not think about “sucking it in” all the time. My favorite beach destination is Hawaii, but I usually vacation at Myrtle Beach, SC.

  35. My anxiety spot would be my belly. So that means a one piece suit for me. My favorite beach destination is Myrtle Beach, SC.

  36. My swimsuit anxiety is my bottom bikini falling off when I go to water parks! My favorite kind of swimsuit is one that fits since I am so petite and I would rather not buy swimsuits from kid stores lol =) My favorite summer beach destination would be Clearwater Beach in Florida. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  37. I worry about “overexposed” cleavage and swimsuits that don’t fit the thigh area very well. I shudder at the thought of bathsuit season. But, my favorite beach destiantion is any beach in Hawaii

  38. My swimsuit anxiety is always my stomach and thighs. I like suits that have a little skirt and some shirring on the sides.

  39. I have a hard time finding a suit with proper breast coverage and support as well as one that is flattering in the thigh area.

  40. My swimsuit anxiety is what I look like in one…certainly not like I did twenty years ago….LOL. My favorite beach destination is the Outer Banks of NC.

  41. My swimsuit anxiety is having bottoms that don’t cover my bottom and a bikini top that doesn’t support my top. I am long waisted, so I have to choose a 2 piece.

  42. My anxiety would be my whole body except for my feet. I love Land’s End’s bathing suits. I feel pretty good being out playing in the water with my kids in one of them.

  43. I must wear a compression stocking so I have been hesitant of wearing a suit. But with the warmer weather I think that perhaps something in the way with shorts might be ok.

  44. o the tummy pouch !! how after children it stays! tankini’s are great–and we just have the swimming pools around the rural areas ! thanks for the opp

  45. anxiety is putting one on at all – just never got back to good weight after baby who is now 2.

  46. Lands End is great and I’m wearing Lands End fleece as I type this.
But what about swim wear? I haven’t worn any for years (doesn’t mean
I’ve been skinny dipping on our beautiful California beaches). Thanks for the contest.

  47. My swimsuit anxiety is my fat belly. I like a one piece swimsuit and my favorite beach destination is Sanibel Island, Florida.

  48. I have big hips and thighs and it makes wearing a bathing suit awkward for me so I usually wear a t shirt over it.

  49. I love Lands End and their swimsuits are worth the money. My anxiety area is the tummy area, definitely a one piece suit for me and I love to go to the beach on Cape Cod.

  50. I used to have anxiety about wearing bathing suits, period, since I’m a big gal (size 14-16). However, I got over it recently when I went to a water park and walked around the place in my halter-tankini/skirt suit – AND received a few compliments. As long as I’m with someone else, I don’t have any issues.

  51. My biggest swimsuit concern it tummy control. My favorite vacation spot would have to be Hawaii, it is the most beautiful place I have ever visited.

  52. My swimsuit anxiety is covering the tops of my thighs in front AND in back, my favorite swimsuit is an empire waist/fit and flare one piece with a longish skirt and a built-in underwire bra, plus a power-net tummy panel (picky much?) and my fave summer beach destination is La Jolla Shores, ’cause I live in So Cal and it’s just a ten minute drive to get there, and it’s a gorgeous family beach!

  53. Ugh, yes, having two kids in three years certainly has changed my body for the worse. My boobs are nearly gone (enhance bust please!) and my waist is…just not good. My weight and size are “normal” for me. But the packaging has seen better days!

  54. I love Sanibel Island in Florida. I really hate the trying on of bathing suits, I still have one that’s about 15 years old, with a little skirt attached. 5 babies has wreaked havoc! Thanks for the chance to win.
