A summer party with Playtex and a giveaway!

I recently had a great summer party at my house despite the fact that the thought of organizing and having a party makes my brain hurt.  That’s the ADHD. I can’t process the thoughts required to put together a party which includes decorating, food preparation, and then clean up.. just thinking about it makes my brain hurt.

My summer party actually turned out really good. I didn’t get stressed before or during the party which was exciting in itself.  I made a few appetizers including Sweet Potato Chips that were pretty delicious once I finally got the timing right.

Playtex sent me a few pairs of gloves to try out before, during, and after my party and I’m telling you, they were pretty awesome. First, I used the GreatLengths™ Gloves to clean my glass patio table and chairs one of which had bird poop on it (see photos below.. not of the bird poop!).  Before having the gloves I would have just used a few paper towels to clean it off and would have been totally grossed out but the gloves took out the gross factor which was really nice.  I also used these gloves when cutting flowers from the garden.  I was lazy and didn’t want to go to the shed to get my regular gloves out but these worked really well.

GreatLengths™ Gloves

  • Test them out when prepping your grill and/or wiping down your patio furniture for the party; these gloves are ideal for the extra messy clean-up jobs (like getting bird poop off of patio chairs)

CleanCuisine™ Gloves

  • Use them while preparing spicy recipes like salsa or try them out when preparing meat or fish for the grill so you are sure to keep clean and germ-free
  • Try using them while chopping garlic or onions which often stings hands and/or leave a lingering odor

Living® Gloves

  • A twist on the classic Playtex® Living® gloves, this new version is ideal for clean-up tasks like washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen

Here are a couple of super-easy, quick appetizers (great for moms!) to try out at your next party:

Oven Roasted Corn on the Cobcourtesy of FoodNetwork.com
Ingredients:

4 ears fresh corn
Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place corn husks directly on the oven rack and roast for 30 minutes or until corn is soft. Peel down the husks and use as a handle when eating.  My whoops.. Out of habit, I took the corn husks off before roasting the corn the first time with not such tasty results.

Sweet Potato Chips
Ingredients:
2 sweet potatoes
Directions:
Slice two sweet potatoes very thin.  Lay as many slices as will fit without overlapping directly on your clean microwave turn table then spray the slices lightly with olive oil cooking spray (salt optional).  Microwave them in increments of a few minutes checking for desired crispness.

  1. We like to have parties with our wonderful family and friends. Last party we had our horses got out and were heading for the fruit bowls. I was so embarrassed about this.

  2. OMG do I have a story! Yes, I need gloves but for my FIL! When he came to visit he told us of stories about how to quickly start the bbq grill (at the time we didn’t have a gas grill; just good old fashioned charcoal). He asked me for some cotton balls and a jar of my toddler’s vaseline!?!?! He dipped the cotton balls into the vaseline jar and not being careful got the vaseline covered all over his hands and then he tried to drop the vaseline covered cotton balls onto the somewhat hot coals shaking his hands vigorously to detach from them and in the meantime the flames sparked and engulfed the cotton balls and almost his bare hands!!! I could not stop from laughing and new that no one would eat the dinner that was started from vaseline / cotton ball embers 🙂

  3. i want the gloves for my mother-in-law. she would like them. last party i had kids spilled drinks all over the floor and the glass broke. it was not cool to clean up all that mess. i would love to win the gorcery card!

  4. I would love to have these gloves for working in my garden. Maybe if my garden looked better I would be able to have a party in my back yard.

  5. I would love these! I have all kinds of dirty jobs around the house (dog and cat baths, toilet cleaning, poo removal, etc), and I know my fingernails will thank you if I win these!

Funny story: I was demonstrating some kitchen products one time at my house. Well, I went to show how the apple peeler just did wonders, and the apple core just gave out. Luckily, I was saved by a more sturdy pear!

  6. it always seems like my hubby’s friends end up partying at our house & somebody is gonna spill and/or break something. these gloves will come in handy not to mention the card for munchies etc.

  7. What a fun giveaway! In spite of the fact that we have a dishwasher, I find myself very often doing dishes, so for that I would love some quality gloves as well as for using them when I am cleaning the floors and bathroom! They come in so handy to protect our ladylike hands, don’t they!

My husband and I love, love to entertain. Living out on the lake our impromtu get togethers are always festive and lively. We love to grill outside when the weather is nice, but very often it is cold and rainy here so we do entertain a lot inside. We always open up our kitchen and cupboards when friends and family come over. We love to involve our guests in the meal preparation. We encourage them to add their own special touches to the dishes we create. It makes for so much entertainment, humorous conversations, and we make a lot of new memories each and every time. People know when they come to our home that it is going to be an interactive experience, and most certainly never dull or boring. We provide all the music, wine, and food for the meals, and they provide us with their creative culinary talents. Together as a whole we have concocted some savory, delicious meals that have been talked about for months afterwards. So, having a $50 GC is another motivation to have an end of the summer celebration. Thanks so much for the chance to enter.

  8. We have Crawfish(mudbug) boils & BBQ’s all summer!

Just last weekend we had Crawfish races in which the kids would choose a live crawfish to race down a table to the finnish line & gave away prizes to all of the kids like bubble makers & nerf balls.

I would love to win this because I would love to have more get togethers but it does put a dent in my budget!

  9. I would love to win this because I have gotten dermatitis
from using chemicals and not wearing gloves.Which the
doctor told me.Playtex seems to be the best glove for
me and and with school starting I could use GC.I have
a hard time with parties, seems like something always goes wrong. One year the dogs were fighting under the table
with the food and tipped it over. What a mess and diaster.
I ordered Pizza and saved the day

  10. I have 4 cats which means 2 litter boxes that get filled up fast and I’d really love some good cleaning gloves to use while cleaning them.

  11. I want to win because the gloves will be super handy when prepping for the next cookout. The gc will be great to buy all of the food for upcoming Labor Day

  12. I would love to win because this would help out either with a triple baptism i’m having soon or my twins birthday 🙂

  13. last year on hubby’s birthday we had a party for him. i thought i had everything ready and good to go when i found out that i had forgot the beer. oops. so i called a few people and they brought the beer, crises taken care of!

  14. I never use gloves – this would be a great opportunity to get to try them out when I clean. Also as I am unemployed, the gift card would be wonderful!

    Thanks for the giveaway!
    email in blogger profile.

  15. I would like to win because this is a product that I could use for many things, but mainly cleaning. A funny thing that happened at my last party: I left a candle burning for nearly 24 hours. It was only when the candle melted to a stub that I noticed that it was burning. I guess not really funny, but rather scary. But only thing I can remember.

  16. we shop kroger because they double and triple coupons. could really use this right now. last party i attended was my great-nephew’s first birthday party. it was very sweet and the hot links were indeed hot. 😀

  17. I’d like to win this because hey, free groceries! Plus, we entertain a lot, we rotate houses.

Funny that happened at a gathering recently- we usually have it pretty well divided up who will bring what, etc but this time it was just bring whatever and everyone brought either a chocolate dessert or a potato dish so it wasn’t the healthiest dinner ever, but still enjoyable.

  18. I would like to win, cause $50 in groceries could really help us out, I shop mostly at Costco, sometimes Walmart.
A few years ago we had some friends over for a dinner party, and we wondered why the food was taking so long to cook. We were so nervous and rushed, we forget to turn the oven on.

  19. I would just like to have a party and relax. I took college classes all summer, only had a small break and now fall classes have started already. I just need an evening to relax and have fun.

  20. id love to win because i will be doing alot of nasty cleaning when the kids return to school and the card would come in handy for cleaning supplies

  21. We had plans to have a patio party for the 4th but that got squashed somehow. I don’t have too many funny stories as we don’t entertain often. Maybe Labor Day would work for us though! We could definitely use the grocery gift card and I’d love to try the gloves…have the perfect yicky project waiting for the Great Lengths gloves.

  22. well I want to win cause I always need some gloves they come in handy for so many uses and the $50 well anyone can use that, especially when you need some new shoes and only live pay to pay

  23. I love Platex gloves, unfortunately it’s one of those things I always manage to forget to pick up when I go shopping. With my dry hands and soft nails, I really need to start remembering. Winning 3 pairs would sure solve that problem for a while. And added bonus….free food. Great giveaway
    iheartsweeping@aol.com

  24. I would like to win because I am always using gloves for some clean up project and Playtex is great. The $50 would come in handy for our next barbecue.

  25. Thanks for the giveaway… Having a big college reunion barbecue over Labor Day; some are friends I haven’t seen in a few years; celebrating some birthdays too, ranging from 44 to 50; some friends are newly married; others with kids just starting kindergarten & some with high school freshman… We are looking forward to seeing everyone (yet I dread the preparation & clean-up for this thing), so I thought I’d enter your contest, hopefully to win some Playtex gloves so I won’t chemically burn my hands too much when I use oven cleaner to get the grill ready !!!

  26. My dh’s birthday is coming up and this would be great to use to throw him a small surprise party. He always gets left out so this would be a big treat for him. Thank you!

  27. I would like to win because I have an end-of-summer birthday and I would like to throw a party for myself this year. Sounds a little odd, I know, but I’ve learned that I shouldn’t wait for someone else to may my Bday fun. It is up to me and this year I want a fun, barbeque party. Thanks!

  28. We tried the both families cookout on Memorial Day weekend at a local park and was rained out. Everyone came back to our house for the cookout. My house was a mess! I was really scrambling to clean up the house while drying everything off and getting the food rewarmed and on the table! Thanks! senekers@comcast.net

  29. I’d love a chance to win. I use Playtex gloves all of the time, for dish washing and cleaning. How great to have some for free and even extra money to buy more.

    Thanks!

  30. I had a cook out once where we kept waiting and waiting for the chicken to get done on the grill. Finally we realized we were out of propane. Nice! There well over 20 people there. Would love to win and try at having a better cook out! This time I will be certain there is plenty of propane. The gloves and gift card would come in handy! Thanks for the contest!

  31. I love playtex. They play a big roll in my kitchen weather I am doing the dishes or preparing dinner I always got my gloves on. I would love to win with labor day coming up this would be awesome.

  32. DH just got a brand new grill for his birthday and we can’t wait to have our first big cookout with our family and friends!
Thanks for the chance to win!

  33. Second Entry. I threw a Mardi-Gras Birthday party for my best friend a few years ago in February and ordered a specially made New Orleans King Cake with the plastic baby hidden inside….. People were so full from the appetizers and southern dishes that nobody found the baby in the cake. I ended up digging it out and putting it in my boss’s drink. Bad move! He thought it was a bug and spit it out along with his drink, and sprayed all in sight lol.

  34. I really want to win these — I throw themed-parties all the time, and if I had the gloves, it would have saved my hands, sinuses, and fingernails a lot of aggravation lol!

    Thank U!

  35. A funny thing that happened at my daughter’s graduation party was that we had it outside in our garage after we had cleaned and scrubbed for 3 months before that! It looked really nice for the party but the day after the party it looked as though we hadn’t cleaned it at all!

  36. I would love to win these gloves because I have eczema on my hands and the doctor said to keep them out of the dishwater.

  37. I never won anything before. could definitely use the extra grocery money. Maybe we could have a litttle patio
    party.

    Thank You

  38. I want to win because the gloves I use for super dirty jobs like cleaning litter boxes and the toilet have a hole in one finger.

  39. We always BBQ the weekend before all the kids start school, this would help a lot with supplies!

At our last BBQ my husband tried to blow himself up! He put too much lighter fluid on it, and it shot out a big flame and burned off all his facial hair! It was scary then, but funny after… he looked 12 again!

  40. I want to win because I need to have a party to get over the end-of-summer blues! At our first Thanksgiving party at our home, we also got our first mouse. Fun!

  41. I would love to win, could definitely use the extra grocery money. Our parties always consist of playing poker…usually. Today we’ll be having a birthday party for my son…its his first!

  42. I would like to win because I prefer to wear gloves while doing some cleaning and always when handling uncooked meats or poultry. I like Playtex brands, especially.

About parties, I once gave a surprise birthday party where the guest of honor did not show up. It was not funny at the time…. as a matter of fact, STILL not funny!

  43. A funny story about a previous party I held, we were having a good time and the lights went out. Everyone flipped out for a few minutes but it turned out okay because luckily we had candles on hand.

  44. Would love to win this giveaway in order to add some extra surprises to my family’s upcoming Labor Day shin-dig — I’m thinking a great cake and a bottle of champagne would be just the thing. Our parties always seem to have funny moments, especially since we got a karaoke machine — last time we all got a huge laugh out of witnessing my (slightly tipsy) dad belt out the Abba song “Take a Chance on Me.” Thanks for the giveaway!

  45. My daughter is a senior this year so we will be having a graduation party, my grandson is turning 1, and my 70 year old mother is engaged so we will be having a party for that, also my son got promoted from 7th grade to 9th grade so we have a lot to celebrate and with only 1 income in the house every little bit helps.
I have a funny story about playtex gloves, my older daughter wanted to give her cat a bath so she bought a pair of playtex gloves to wear so her cat would not scratch her hands and arms.

Thank you so very very much

    camper223[at]live[dot]com

  46. Totally would use these gloves to clean my house (among other things!) 🙂
and my grocery store of choice would be Krogers!

    Thank you! 🙂

  47. When I have a patio party the only help I want grilling is cooperation from Mother Nature and the only help I want cleaning up is one pair of hands… or a gift certificate and some Playtex gloves!

During one memorable cookout our guest had just filled his plate with a mouth-watering tenderloin, twice-baked potato and buttered corn on the cob. He set the plate down to get some napkins and silverware and as he turned back to the plate the steak was ‘missing.’ But that wasn’t the only thing missing – so was our puppy, Roscoe. He later admitted that it was the best tenderloin he’s ever had! 🙂

  48. I’d love to win because hubby has sensitive skin and doing the washing up makes his hands all icky, not good!

Our last BIG party was for the 4th of July. We had lots of folks out and a TON of fireworks! Some of the grown-ups (the Moms!) were worried that the grass was dry – the few early fireworks that the Dads had let off left a lot of glowing embers to be stamped out and we didn’t want a fire.

Well, we didn’t have to worry. 5 minutes after the first firework went off, the tornado warning sounded and we all had to gather our stuff and run inside! After an hour of rain and wind, we got the all clear and went back out, got everything set up again and had a wonderful 4th of July firework night! Yay nature!

  49. I like parties but lately it has been just birthday parties for the little ones. I have a b-day in SEpt. and wanna win it.

  50. I want to win cause I’ve wanted to have a patio/backyard party forever and the economy has affected my family so badly that I wouldn’t feel justified in spending anything additional on a party…BUT if I won this I could do what I wanted!

  51. i there. i would love to win because ive never thrown a patio party before (because ive never had a patio!). thanks!

  52. Would love to win. The last party I had was for the Chargers a tailgate party at my house. The decorations up and food placed out we were ready! One problem forgot to check the TV guide to see if they were going to show it on TV in my area! Totally embarrassing and needless to say no more Charger partys we will go to the ESPN zone next time!

  53. I want to win so I can throw a wonderful end of summer party for my kids. Last year’s was a blast – only a few spilled plates.

  54. I would want to win this to help my friend with her Wedding Shower. She is getting married on Halloween and her shower is next month. We are looking forward to getting her yard cleaned up and shop for some great Fall supplies!

  55. i would love 2 win this 1. cuz the drawing is drawn on aug 18th my birthday and 2. i could use the grocery certificate 2 buy food cuz im a freshman starting college all on my own.

    thankss soo much! 🙂

  56. I love to party. I want an end of summer party and this would be great. I’m always a mess too so the gloves will keep me neat.

  57. I want to win because I need to wear gloves when cleaning, I’m ruining my hands. I could also use the money to buy lots of back to school foods and snacks.

  58. I would love to win because …truthfully…I love to win. ha..I just moved into a new apartment and it would be nice to entertain and your prize would help me.
Something funny…I think. We had my son’s girlfriend over for supper…last minute. We had lasagna and cesar salad. Turns out, she doesn’t eat meat and most vegetables. Yap!

  59. I went to a patio party, the hostess was selling cookware. She was telling us how virtually indestructible the cookware was…. the family dog bumped into her and it shattered everywhere. Nobody was hurt, but we all got a little chuckle out of her “non-breakable cookware”

  60. We set up a above ground pool before having a party earlier in the summer this year.
Everyone was having a great time grilling and chatting. After eating everyone changed and got ready to have fun in the pool. But after about half of our friends and their children got in the sides collapsed with water and everyone inside going everywhere.
Luckily everyone that was there has a great sense of humor.

  61. I would love to have this so that I could have one last get together with all of our friends before school starts back here.
Thank you so much for the chance to win.

  62. during our last BBQ,,it began to rain and we had to move everything to a garage…I got stuck having to carry the hot grill to the neighbors garage. ruined two oven mittts

  63. Two weeks ago we had a family birthday barbecue party and my son said that he would grill the food. He told me not to worry that he would get the grill ready and start cooking the meat. Every 5 minutes he would call me through the window and tell me that the charcoal would not light. I was buy getting all the other stuff ready so I did not go outside and check it. I told him to keep trying. He tried and tried for about 45 minuts. I finished what I was doing and I went to see what was wrong. It was then that I asked him how much charcoal fluid he added. LOL he looked at me and said what Charcoal fluid??

    janetfaye (at) gmail (dot) com

  64. The best party we ever threw was a cinco de mayo party and we had a mariachi band come play songs for about an hour. It was so much fun!

  65. I would like to win b/c I need to do some serious cleaning of my house and these gloves would fit the bill! As for a party story…never throw a pet party indoors!! We had a few of my friends come over with their dogs and we had toys and treats for all of them. After the party was over I had toy fuzz and a few accidental poohs in my house I had to clean up!!

  66. I want to win to ensure sanitary conditions. This isn’t funny but it’s true – I was grilling London Broil for Xmas lunch and slipped on the ice and cracked my back. Fortunately everything turned out OK, I bruised my spine but I was a b***h for that entire meal, lemme tell you!

  67. A funny thing that happened at a cookout this summer is that my teenage daughter decided to try her hand at making a blueberry pie. It was beautiful and she was so proud until we took a bite and everyone spit it out. It was so salty. She went back and looked at the recipe. It said to add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and instead she added a 1/2 cup of salt! Yikes!

  68. I would love the clean cuisine gloves. I hate, hate, hate to touch any raw meat. My husband loves meatloaf and I can’t stand to make it and mix it up. Yuck!

Oh yeah, the gift card would definitely come in handy.

  69. Well I guess it wasn’t funny for the host, but years ago I went to a 40th birthday party and the guest of honor never showed. He was pretty adement that he didn’t want a party but she wouldn’t listen. We had a good time regardless.

  70. I would like to win this as my youngest is off to college in a few weeks and I would like to give him a great send off with a family party. Of course I will need to do a lot of scrubbing down the deck from the summer bugs and plant grime. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  71. i’d like to win because i can always use some savings at the grocery store! the last party we threw was at the wheaton train and carousel. fun for the kids.

  72. These would be great for a home we are helping my mother in law fix up. It’s going to be touch to clean and these would be perfect for the job.

  73. I would just love to win this prize. parties are a lot of fun, although they are also a lot of work. Having a grocery coupon would be such a big help.

  74. I haven’t used playtex gloves in years. I would like to try them again as I hate it when my hands smell like my cleaning solutions after I have cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen.

  75. I would love to win because I recently started making my own cakes and this would be great while dying the frostings.

My last party got rained out! It was a terential downpour and we had to run all of these children up to our messy house, clean up really quick, refrost the cupcakes my daughter dropped, but it was still a great time!

  76. It’s really time for us to have a family summer party, it’s been awhile and I’d love to win this because I have no dishwasher and Playtex gloves are always so great. I’d say one funny story was when we had a pig roast and all of the children wanted the pig nose; who’d have ever thought that?
Thank you for the great giveaway!

  77. It’s been a very, very long time since I tried out Playtex gloves, and my attitude towards wearing gloves for different things has changed. It’d be great to be able to try them again.

Funny party story: Many years ago, I was trying to light a gas grill for the first time. I was kind of bending over – I had very long hair – a strong breeze kicked in and set part of my hair on fire. I was right next to the pool so I jumped in – even though I was dressed up. It really is funny now lol.

  78. I’d like to win because I love playtex gloves, with no dishwasher (but me) I use playtex gloves everyday, I just can’t bring myself to wash dishes without gloves. I once had a party where my friend called to say she would be late because she went over a bridge! The bridge is at least 20 minutes away from my house, not sure how she passed me by so much.

  79. Oh my.
I gave a surprise birthday party for my sis.
Well I was so busy at that time that I forgot to get her over to the party!
I’m still getting razzed about that.

  80. To win these gloves and gift card too,
Would be the best, and what I’d do,
Is have a party with the joy,
Of having 2 helping hands, oh boy!

    Protected by the magic skin
Of Playtex gloves… my hands are in…
I’d have a perfect day for sure,
A party to toast this special win!

  81. i’d love to win b/c we are moving into a new house & will be having a housewarming party – so the $50 would help!

    autumn398 @ yahoo.com

  82. My uncle is having his annual 3-day party over Labor day weekend since everyone who shows up brings stuff (soda, food, snacks, etc)this would probably cover the cost of what I would bring. I can turn that $50 into over $100 worth of food/drink etc by buying items on sale and using coupons. In this economy you have to save where you can yet still take time to enjoy yourself.

  83. I would love to have a nice Patio Party to celebrate all the friends that I have. In this day and age, it is difficult to get everyone together to celebrate just being good friends. This economy has a whole lot of people staying home and watching their budget. I would so enjoy getting everyone together to celebrate our lives together. Thanks for the generous contest.

  84. Would love to win this contest. I had a bbq party last week and had tons of cleaning to do afterwards and the gloves would have come in handy. Great contest. Thanks.

  85. we were having a holiday party and left to the airport to get some family while turkey cooled on the counter. When we came home the dog had eaten almost a 20 lbs turkey and we had to make a ER vet visit – some parry!

    thanks for sponsoring this.

    2kidsblogger(at)gmail(dot)com

  86. would love to win – hubby is a chef and we always need gloves for kitchen jobs!

    thanks for sponsoring this.

    2kidsblogger(at)gmail(dot)com

  87. Ours is mainly family style informal type get togethers. With 8 grandchildren, I get the opportunity to have fun with them (and feed them!) on an informal basis. My husband (grandpa) can stand on his head (at age 67)..the grandboys thought that was so neat that they started inviting friends to come to our house to see grandpa stand on his head. It went over so well, they asked him to stand on his head and introduce an “act” at one of the school functions. He did and it went over so well that a picture of that was included in their school year book. It was sooo funny to see him do that but what could he say? He loves his grandkids!

  88. I would like to win so because we always have get togethers in the summer, in our backyard and every little bit helps.

  89. I want to win for our upcoming back to school party! Funniest thing at a party that I had was dumping the dip into a heater as I was trying to set it on the table!

    Thanks!

  90. Funny story entry: I had promised to bring the homemade potato salad to a friend’s party and it totally slipped my mind until I was rushing around at the last minute trying to whip everything together. I thought I had done a pretty good job and had even finished it faster than usual. At the party my grandfather had taken a bit and I could hear him crunching down-I had totally forgot to actually cook the potatoes!!

  91. My cousin’s graduation is coming up and this would be great to win to help with food and supplies, very cool giveaway!

  92. i would love to have this to host a pool party. i have been wanting to for 2 years but i just haven’t done it.. maybe this would provide me with some incentive

  93. Everything was perfect. Great weather, wonderful friends, good music and a great dinner to look forward to later on. Homemade chili. Yum. Once I had it prepped and ready I threw it into the crockpot. Except I never turned the crockpot on. It was an interesting night.

  94. I would love to win because I like to serve fresh fruit salads during the summer, but this year, the prices look like EVERYTHING is out of season!

  95. I’d like to have a picnic with the kids (haven’t done that in a while). This prize would help a lot. 🙂

  96. We had a little party for July 4th, and had a great time… Put some steaks on the grill, had some delicious desserts, then went to see fireworks. I’d love to be able to have parties more.

  97. I would like to win because I haven’t had a patio party in a while and this would be the perfect reason to have one. Thanks for the chance.

  98. Here’s a TMI but funny story. We have a set of 6 patio chairs with cushions. We assigned one chair to my toddler because he always gets it gunky with fruit juice and popsicles, etc. Well, one day back when he was potty training he peed on the cushion while sitting in the chair. I hosed off the cushion and gave it a good scrub with OxiClean, and it looked like new. That weekend, we had friends over for dinner outside, and when I came outside with drinks I found my son telling one of the men “You are sitting in my peepee chair, but Mommy cleaned it so it’s okay now.” The man looked a little concerned about sitting down after that!

  99. I want to win because we always have a lot of yucky outdoor cleaning jobs that the gloves would be great for, and once I’ve cleaned up I’d love to have a few neighbors over for drinks and snacks on the deck, courtesy of the gift card!

  100. It was my dad’s birthday party and everyone was gathered around the kitchen table when my mom turned out the lights and came in to present the beautiful cake. Since my dad is a jokester, she decided to pretend that the cake was slipping out of her hands and might smash into him. Of course she lost control, missed him completely and hit my uncle in the face. He was covered in blue frosting. Smurftastic!

  101. I want to win because I’m always cleaning and go through gloves like nobody’s business. Also, we haven’t had a party on the patio this year – the table, chairs, and grill are ready to go but need a little incentive.
    Thanks!

  102. we havent had a party in a long time, if i win this it would be perfect to have a fall party or summer/fall party for my family, its just hard for our family to get together anymore, i know everyone is buzy. but i would love to host a party for my family and just enjoy the evening. thanks

  103. We have friends over to play dominos and everyone brings something to share. Last time we had everyone over, we decided to have a mexican theme. One of the familys got the theme confused and they brought lasagna. It was good though.

  104. One funny story is that I went to friend’s party. SHe never entertained and it was her first. She never cooks either. So she had this elaborate meal planned with a rib roast and mashed potatoes etc. SO we get there have some nice appetizers and drinks and when dinner time comes, she realizes she didn’t turn on the oven. DOH. No rib roast for us.

  105. We have a patio party coming up for hubby’s work. I love having parties. This party will be a total appetizer party and I am excited to see what I can come up with!! The $50 card would com ein handy

  106. Well – I live in humid (but beautiful) Florida so fall and spring patio parties are a lot more comfrotable.

Halloween has to be my fave time to throw a party!

  107. It’s fun when you stay indoors and read! (That way you don’t get sunburned.) And that’s exactly what we did at our July 4th party.

  108. I would like to win and use the gift card to help pay for food and have a movie night party. Our funniest party moment was this July 4th when my dog knocked over the grill and set the grass on fire. Everybody was ok and we had a good laugh about it.

  109. I am planning my sister’s bachelorette party and the gloves and gift card would definitely come in handy. I’m hrowing a bbq and need to clean the patio furniture and what not. Thanks for the chance.

  110. We threw a Thanksgiving party with some Brazilians and it turned into a Samba party with dancers and everything.

  111. I’d love to win because I haven’t met most of my neighbors, and I’d love to have a neighborhood party to get to know them!

  112. This would be perfect for the next time the family gets together – we do a lot of eating and a lot of washing up, and I’d love to try the Playtex gloves.

  113. Our “parties” are more like “informal get-togethers” with friends and family, since we now live just a few blocks away from my sister in law and her family.
The last real party we had was an open house type of housewarming party when we moved. Everyone had come and gone (we thought!) and I had just collapsed on the couch saying “Whew!” and the doorbell rings. It’s a co-worker, and she had been driving around for 45 minutes looking for the house! So I fixed her a plate of cake and a cup of coffee and she and I sat in the dining room and talked for probably an hour! I was SO ready for her to go home 🙂

  114. I would love to win this prize as I use playtex gloves to clean and the $50 gift card would make my back to school party great!!!

  115. I want to win because I would love to throw a picnic in my yard. And the gloves would come in handy for getting the meat ready for the grill. Thanks!

  116. I want to win because I would love to have another martini party for my friends. Had one last year and it was so fun! We didnt allow the men to come so they went to a bar/restaurant and had their own party

  117. I want to win because I don’t currently use these kind of gloves and would love to try them out to see if they’d be helpful to keep around.

My funniest story is when I held my oldest child’s graduation party this year. My husband’s aunt came about an hour early to help me with “last minute details” which unfortunately included not being nearly ready!!! She just started stuffing stuff anywhere she could find to get it out of the way since she didn’t know where anything went. For at least a week afterward I was still finding things stuck in my oven, under my sink, in the pantry, EVERYWHERE!!!

  118. At a previous party that I hosted, a bottle of soda blew up in my face. I didn’t realize that my co-host dropped the bag of soda bottles on the ground, so when I went to open a bottle of soda to serve guest, the bottle cap flew off like a champagne cork and I got soda squirted all over my face! Friends of mine still laugh about that.

  119. This would be great! I’d love to use these items to celebrate my sister’s birthday in August. She’ll be 20! 🙂 I feel old all of a sudden. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  120. Id love to win because we need the grocery money and it would be fun to be the host of a pool party here where we live instead of me always crashing other people’s parties (teehee)

  121. My poor hands need these gloves! When we lived near the lake, we frequently held night-time bonfires on the beach, where we roasted weenies and marshmallows! (Maybe not funny, but definitely fun!)

  122. Thanks for the opportunity. We once had a cookout with the neighbors when the kids decided to get out the hose and mud wrestle. It was hilarious.

  123. I’d like to win because Playtex gloves are really useful and it would be great to have a small party, thanks.

  124. These would be perfect! We recently moved to a tiny house on the lake, so when people come over we almost always have a patio party (there’s not enough room to eat in the house). Thanks for the opportunity!

  125. This would be perfect for our BBQ/Baby Shower. This would help me clean up before and after all of the guests arrive! Not to mention it would help save my hands when washing all of these soon to be baby bottles!

  126. I just thought of something kind of funny too! I thew my sister a baby shower last spring and we had a great menu and told everyone where to meet us in the park. We’d been having great weather, but the morning of the shower, we drove to the park, got out and couldn’t even see from our hair blowing in our faces. It was seriously windy ALL DAY that day. Like 40 mph and more. Dirt was blowing in our faces and debris was flying everywhere. Other than that, it looked great out! We didn’t really have a plan B, but we had to go to her TINY apartment and clean as fast as we could and then try to contact everybody. When people showed up we practically had to sit on top of eachother and barely had room for people, food, and presents. It was crazy, but still turned out to be fun.

  127. I want to win! We moved to a new town a year ago, and we have a great apartment with a big balcony. We actually know a few people we could invite over by now, and I want to throw a summer party.

  128. I would LOVE to win because just last weekend I had an unfortunate incident where I would have killed to have Playtex gloves at my fingertips (no pun intended). Lets just say a friend had been battling a virus for a few days and wanted to get out of the house for some fresh air so they stopped by my cookout… unfortunately, the virus was not gone yet and they got sick all over the place!

  129. At my son’s birthday party last year, we were opening gifts when someone mentioned something about our garage. My 4 year old announced “You can’t go in there, it’s full of momma’s junk.” (I was getting ready for a yard sale). But, I about died of embarrassment. Everyone else thought it was hilarious.

  130. I’d love to win because we have lots of summer parties coming up. I’m always thinking that I need to pick up gloves (when some dirty job comes up), but never remember when I’m at the store. So the gloves would definitely come in handy!

  131. I would love to win and put this towards throwing a party. We love to entertain, especially during the summer with bbq’s.
We recently had a surprise 50th birthday party for my brother Glen. We invited some of his friends, some who we never met before and was given the phone numbers by my sister in law. There was one fellow, John, that my brother works with, that he’s really close to. I called and invited John and his wife. My brother was so surprised that John came. Later, we found out that the John we invited was not the same John that he’s close too, but another John that he was only mildly knew through work. We really had a big laugh over the mistake in Johns.

  132. It was July 4th a few years ago when this happened.
My friend thought that tossing a blackcat into someone’s yard would be funny.
Well not as funny as it might have been because the blackcat blew up in her fingers just as she lit it!!
I thought her fingers would have been blown off but she was ok. But our ears were ringing for a while!
We still laugh about it today.

  133. I’d like to win because it would be sweet to bring $50 worth of goodies to our family cookout this august.

  134. would love to have patio party next month for my hubby’s b-day. This time I should b-que though since last time he did and one of our guests broke a tooth — yikes!

  135. I would love to win this prize because I have super sensitive skin and the gloves would be great to protect my hands!

My sister in law and I decided to throw Thanksgiving together. She had started cooking the turkey that morning. I came over and started to prepare the stuffing and she said stuffing came with the bird! She cooked the turkey with the innards inside!

  136. I would love to win this because I love a good party…Funny thing that happened at our last party? Wasnt funny till the next day, but we had a short in out stove (didnt know it) and my husband had one hand on the stove and touched something metal and got quite the shock.

  137. About a previous party: We had our grandduaghter’s 1st birthday last year. It was a Hawaiian Luau theme, and all the guests were asked to wear tropical garb. We decorated the community hall in all things tropical, and had Don Ho playing in the background.

The funny thing is, my daughter put together favor bags for the little party goers, and one little boy, upon receiving his goodie bag, said “This bag is better than the present we bought for the baby!” His mother turned red. 🙂

  138. I want to win because it would lift my spirits! It is always delightful to win something, it;s an unexpected and welcome surprise!

  139. I would like to win because we have a large family (there are five of us), and our extended family is HUGE. So when we get together, we go broke just buying the beverages, let alone the food!
The last time that my in-laws were visiting, I had forgotten that my father-in-law is allergic to cheese, and discovered that just about every dish that I had made had cheese in it. So he had a salad and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I was mortified!

  140. I’d love to win because I need all the free stuff I can get. My parties are pretty simple and only for family holidays. I guess you could say its funny how much my family tries to tell me how to run my life!

  141. Gave a party for my Grammy’s 95th birthday and she rode my nephew’s Harley for the first time to celebrate.

    Thank you for the contest.

  142. does blowing up the grill- the lid blew off- it was an old gas grill and it shot off- noone hurt but scared us to death

  143. Would love to win because I just got my own apartment and would love to use the backyard for a small get together, never could before! 🙂

  144. I have to say that others are usually more creative than me when it comes to hosting parties. One of my rare hits was organizing a “Polish Bride” wedding shower. The whole idea was to get the bride to state, according to quick stories, what and how she would re-use items such as a paper napkin, a tissue, an old shoe string, on and on. Everyone had more than just one good laugh. As to why I would like to win; because it’s about time my family and friends had more good laughs!

  145. I would just love to win! Parties are always so fun. We haven’t hosted a party in ages, I think the last one as a birthday party for the kids.
