A summer party with Playtex and a giveaway!

I recently had a great summer party at my house despite the fact that the thought of organizing and having a party makes my brain hurt.  That’s the ADHD. I can’t process the thoughts required to put together a party which includes decorating, food preparation, and then clean up.. just thinking about it makes my brain hurt.

My summer party actually turned out really good. I didn’t get stressed before or during the party which was exciting in itself.  I made a few appetizers including Sweet Potato Chips that were pretty delicious once I finally got the timing right.

Playtex sent me a few pairs of gloves to try out before, during, and after my party and I’m telling you, they were pretty awesome. First, I used the GreatLengths™ Gloves to clean my glass patio table and chairs one of which had bird poop on it (see photos below.. not of the bird poop!).  Before having the gloves I would have just used a few paper towels to clean it off and would have been totally grossed out but the gloves took out the gross factor which was really nice.  I also used these gloves when cutting flowers from the garden.  I was lazy and didn’t want to go to the shed to get my regular gloves out but these worked really well.

GreatLengths™ Gloves

  • Test them out when prepping your grill and/or wiping down your patio furniture for the party; these gloves are ideal for the extra messy clean-up jobs (like getting bird poop off of patio chairs)

CleanCuisine™ Gloves

  • Use them while preparing spicy recipes like salsa or try them out when preparing meat or fish for the grill so you are sure to keep clean and germ-free
  • Try using them while chopping garlic or onions which often stings hands and/or leave a lingering odor

Living® Gloves

  • A twist on the classic Playtex® Living® gloves, this new version is ideal for clean-up tasks like washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen

Here are a couple of super-easy, quick appetizers (great for moms!) to try out at your next party:

Oven Roasted Corn on the Cobcourtesy of FoodNetwork.com
Ingredients:

4 ears fresh corn
Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place corn husks directly on the oven rack and roast for 30 minutes or until corn is soft. Peel down the husks and use as a handle when eating.  My whoops.. Out of habit, I took the corn husks off before roasting the corn the first time with not such tasty results.

Sweet Potato Chips
Ingredients:
2 sweet potatoes
Directions:
Slice two sweet potatoes very thin.  Lay as many slices as will fit without overlapping directly on your clean microwave turn table then spray the slices lightly with olive oil cooking spray (salt optional).  Microwave them in increments of a few minutes checking for desired crispness.

We had plans to have a patio party for the 4th but that got squashed somehow. I don’t have too many funny stories as we don’t entertain often. Maybe Labor Day would work for us though! We could definitely use the grocery gift card and I’d love to try the gloves…have the perfect yicky project waiting for the Great Lengths gloves.

I would like to win, cause $50 in groceries could really help us out, I shop mostly at Costco, sometimes Walmart.
A few years ago we had some friends over for a dinner party, and we wondered why the food was taking so long to cook. We were so nervous and rushed, we forget to turn the oven on.

I’d like to win this because hey, free groceries! Plus, we entertain a lot, we rotate houses.

Funny that happened at a gathering recently- we usually have it pretty well divided up who will bring what, etc but this time it was just bring whatever and everyone brought either a chocolate dessert or a potato dish so it wasn’t the healthiest dinner ever, but still enjoyable.

I would like to win because this is a product that I could use for many things, but mainly cleaning. A funny thing that happened at my last party: I left a candle burning for nearly 24 hours. It was only when the candle melted to a stub that I noticed that it was burning. I guess not really funny, but rather scary. But only thing I can remember.

I never use gloves – this would be a great opportunity to get to try them out when I clean. Also as I am unemployed, the gift card would be wonderful!

Thanks for the giveaway!

We have Crawfish(mudbug) boils & BBQ’s all summer!

Just last weekend we had Crawfish races in which the kids would choose a live crawfish to race down a table to the finnish line & gave away prizes to all of the kids like bubble makers & nerf balls.

I would love to win this because I would love to have more get togethers but it does put a dent in my budget!

What a fun giveaway! In spite of the fact that we have a dishwasher, I find myself very often doing dishes, so for that I would love some quality gloves as well as for using them when I am cleaning the floors and bathroom! They come in so handy to protect our ladylike hands, don’t they!

My husband and I love, love to entertain. Living out on the lake our impromtu get togethers are always festive and lively. We love to grill outside when the weather is nice, but very often it is cold and rainy here so we do entertain a lot inside. We always open up our kitchen and cupboards when friends and family come over. We love to involve our guests in the meal preparation. We encourage them to add their own special touches to the dishes we create. It makes for so much entertainment, humorous conversations, and we make a lot of new memories each and every time. People know when they come to our home that it is going to be an interactive experience, and most certainly never dull or boring. We provide all the music, wine, and food for the meals, and they provide us with their creative culinary talents. Together as a whole we have concocted some savory, delicious meals that have been talked about for months afterwards. So, having a $50 GC is another motivation to have an end of the summer celebration. Thanks so much for the chance to enter.

I would love these! I have all kinds of dirty jobs around the house (dog and cat baths, toilet cleaning, poo removal, etc), and I know my fingernails will thank you if I win these!

Funny story: I was demonstrating some kitchen products one time at my house. Well, I went to show how the apple peeler just did wonders, and the apple core just gave out. Luckily, I was saved by a more sturdy pear!

OMG do I have a story! Yes, I need gloves but for my FIL! When he came to visit he told us of stories about how to quickly start the bbq grill (at the time we didn’t have a gas grill; just good old fashioned charcoal). He asked me for some cotton balls and a jar of my toddler’s vaseline!?!?! He dipped the cotton balls into the vaseline jar and not being careful got the vaseline covered all over his hands and then he tried to drop the vaseline covered cotton balls onto the somewhat hot coals shaking his hands vigorously to detach from them and in the meantime the flames sparked and engulfed the cotton balls and almost his bare hands!!! I could not stop from laughing and new that no one would eat the dinner that was started from vaseline / cotton ball embers :)

We like to have parties with our wonderful family and friends. Last party we had our horses got out and were heading for the fruit bowls. I was so embarrassed about this.
