Wordlocks review + giveaway!

WordlocksWhen I was in high school, I was afraid that I would lose my locker combination and wouldn’t be able to get my books and homework out of my locker.   I had nightmares about it and would think about it so much that I set myself up for combination failure.   I’m not kidding. High school was a tough time.

Now, there is a product called Wordlock that I think is just great!  Using words instead of numbers, our kids can secure their locker, bicycle, ‘treasure box’ and more.

Wordlocks are locks that have letters instead of numbers so you
can come up with easy-to-recall 4 or 5 letter word or letter combos like your
child’s favorite food, C-A-N-D-Y. Wordlocks are ideal for parents with
children because children often forget number combinations, and parents often misplace
the sheet of paper with the combination on it.

Wordlocks come in padlocks, bike locks and
travel locks.  The bike lock is great for those times when your child might forget a numeric combination and you aren’t available for him to call and ask "hey mom, what’s my bike lock combination again"?  Now, he can set an easy to remember word combination.   Wordlock padlocks are great for outdoor pool gates, yard gates, and storage boxes that you don’t want the kids getting into.   The travel locks are
great for your small, personal luggage you take on your summer road trips with the family.  You know, the luggage you don’t want the kids rummaging through!

Wordlocks can be bought at Amazon.com.

  1. I think I would use this on a “treat” box. If my boys could sound out the word, and spell it in right they could have a “special” treat from the box, every day at snack time. If they cant spell it right they would have to have the fruit I regularly give them at snack time. i think it would help with their spelling through the summer.

  2. What an awesome idea!!! I would use it for my 7 year old to lock up his bike when we go to the park. Unfortunately, a friend and I were at the park and took our kids on a nature hike. When we returned her bike was gone!!! My 7 year old can’t remember the numbers, but I know he would remember a “code” word!!

  3. WOW! What a wonderful idea! Sure wish I had this back when I was in school. I would use it at the YMCA to lock up my purse and go swimming with my kiddos. Thanks for the chance to win. πŸ™‚

  4. These would be great for my triplets when they take their bikes to school or to the community pool!

  5. This would be great for a bike lock. My oldest is also going into middle school & will need a gym locker. She is worried about remembering the combo, so this would be great!

  6. We would probably use one outside on one of our storage boxes. Then we could keep more stuff that no longer fits in the house out there!

  7. this would be sooo great, my daughter’s always forgetting her combo, and then she has to call me from school and ask me, this would be really great!

  8. this would be perfect for the kids, and for me, i have to remember so many numbers they all get mixed up!

  9. I could use any of them to lock bikes, pool gate, luggage. It doesn’t matter could always any of them.

  10. My 4 1/2 year old granddaughter has a hampster that she named Chedder. His name should be Houdini. It seems that Chedder can lift his latch when no one is looking and escape. I think a Wordlocks would be perfect for Chedder’s cage. You could write the word down on a sticky note, put this on the wall next to the cage, so Emma (mostly Mom or Dad) can unlock the cage as needed. Would be a great learning experience for a little girl getting ready to start preschool. Just an idea!

  11. I would play a game with my five year old to help her spell five letter words. I would lock something special in a box, tell her the word that unlocks it and make her sound it out until she gets it right. When she learns how to spell the word she would get to unlock the box and retrieve the prize. How exciting!

  12. These would be perfect for my kids who are awful with numbers but are both spelling bee champions. They are sooooo excited!

  13. I would use this to lock our pool gate. The older kids could use it, but the youngest ones wouldn’t be able to.

  14. My daughter could definitely use this for her gym locker. She is starting high school in september and is very nervous.

  15. I could really use this at the gym. I use a key right now and have it around my wrist which is very cumbersome! Thanks.

  16. I had the same nightmares and still do on occasion! I’ve never seen any locks like this before. Great idea.

  17. i could really use a lock for the gym… I’ve been meaning to get a new combo lock from the drugstore, but you never know what combo you’ll get and I always forget them anyways!!! This would be perfect for me, since I currently carry all my junk around with me at the gym!

  18. My husband and I are so paranoid about things being stolen, and what a great way for us all to remember the combination. Thanks!!

  19. My 16 yr old is starting a new school an is going to need this an with moving 1200 miles our finaces are slim so this would come in so handy, thanks

  20. We would use the locks when we swim at the community pool. My son always asks when we’re there why we don’t have a lock so we can use the lockers. Frankly it’s just because the only time I ever think about buying one is when we’re at the pool and we need one. πŸ˜‰ These locks would be a fun way for him to help me remember to combination.

  21. This is such a great idea. I would love this to lock our bikes when we take the kids on rides and want to stop somewhere. I also think that it would be wonderful to lock up the stroller at the zoo.

  22. My daughters would love this! They have their own boxes that they can keep their own special toys in. Anything in the box needs to be asked for, instead of just taken. My four year old is just starting to learn letters and how things sound. This is a great product! Thanks!

  23. We have a box of locks that have lost keys or can’t remember the number combo — what a waste! From school lockers to the gym to locking backpacks at camp these would come in handy!

  24. My daughter has this little treasure box, and she would love this! She’s just learning how to spell. I know if I don’t win, I’m going to buy this off of amazon!

  25. Gosh, this would be great. I am never remembering my number combination on my bike. Maybe it is my age, or whatever it is, I sure do need one of these.

  26. These would be prefect for when we go bike riding and stop a restaurant to eat lunch. No more worries about trying to rememeber every number.

  27. perfect for my son to be able to unlock his bike all by himself. He is at that very independent stage where he wants to do it but still needs help.

  28. The bike wordlock would be a great way to keep bike safe all summer at summer recreation program daily and very easy to do. Great invention.

  29. With my hubby as a marine and me being a new mom we just don’t have time to remember numbers. It is proven statically that it’s letters that we can remember and when they are shaped into words the memory sense will go up. We plan on using it at the gym and my husband being a marine gets sent all over is going to use his for travel. Good luck to all!

  30. What an awesome product. I work with children and adults with severe/multiple learning challenges. These would be GREAT for them.

  31. These locks are fun and I love the way its words instead of numbers. These would be great for the kids lockers, they would have so much fun with them.
    Count me in to win

  32. My 11 yo DS could definitely use this! He is going into middle school this year, and will have a locker for the first time. I’ve been worrying about how he will deal with a lock because due to his neurological problems, he has memory issues. This will be a perfect answer! Thanks for sharing this great product!

  33. These would work great for bike locks for my little ones! They would work great for me as well since I have a terrible memory and these combinations would be SO much easier to remember! Thank you for the giveaway!

  34. I still have nightmares about losing my combination and I graduated from high school almost 20 years ago! Once, the janitor had to cut the lock off my locker. Unfortunately, my son has the same tendency to forget things so this would be a load off his mind and mine! πŸ™‚

  35. My DH could use this LOL He’s always having a hard time with his lock he uses at work – he’s worse than any kid! At least a word he’ll remember (I hope)

It’s not even just the lock, he can’t even remember his pin for his debit card either! Now if only they could make that one easier to remember…. πŸ˜‰

  36. this will be my daughters first year starting highschool and shes very nevous so i also was afraid os losing my locker combo how funny you think sometimes youre the only`one whos afraid

  37. Holy cow would those be a lifesaver. I have a padlock for myself at the gym, but the girls each wanted their own for swim class. They’re 5 and 3 so it’s up to me to get the locks opened each time. Remembering three sets of combinations is doable but since I’m an accountant by trade, numbers stick in my head. I don’t want MORE numbers swirling around in there! Words would be much easier! As a bonus, since my 5 year old is starting to read, it’s encouragement for her and she can open it herself. I think the 3 year old would be able to also since she recognizes letters well.
